Carlos Pintado (1974) is a Cuban writer, playwright, and award-winning poet. He is the recipient of The National Poetry Series’ 2014 Paz Prize for his book, Nine Coins (Akashic books) as well as the Sant Jordi’s International Prize. His work has appeared in the New York Times Magazine, Zafra Lit, Raspa Magazine, and Circumference. Some of his works have been translated into English, Italian,German, French, Turkish, Portuguese and Italian. His latest work, “Del falso amor impuro,” was turned into a piece for a soprano, violin, and saxophone for Chicago-based contemporary music ensemble: “Dal Niente.”
